Your FIRE Journey, Charted

Financial independence isn't one decision — it's hundreds. When can I stop saving aggressively? Should I do Roth conversions? Can I afford to go part-time? What happens if I delay Social Security?

FireChart.app gives you the tools to answer those questions with confidence. Every calculator is free, runs entirely in your browser, and uses current IRS data so the numbers you see actually reflect the rules you'll follow.

Tools for Every Stage

Coast FIRE Calculator

Find the point where you can stop contributing and let compound growth do the rest. Great for knowing your first major milestone.

Barista FIRE Calculator

See how part-time work changes the math. Even modest income dramatically reduces the portfolio you need.

Roth Conversion Ladder

Plan your early retirement withdrawal strategy. Convert pre-tax funds to Roth systematically and access them penalty-free before 59½.

Mega Backdoor Roth

If your 401(k) allows it, this strategy lets you save far beyond the normal contribution limits in tax-advantaged accounts.

HSA FIRE Strategy

Health Savings Accounts are the only account with a triple tax advantage. See how investing your HSA accelerates your path to FI.

Social Security Bridge

Compare claiming at 62 vs. 67 vs. 70 and find your break-even age. See how much you need to bridge the gap if you delay.

Why Trust These Numbers

  • Current tax data: All calculators use 2025 IRS brackets, contribution limits, and deduction amounts — updated annually.
  • Precise math: We use high-precision calculations so rounding errors don't compound over 30-year projections. The numbers you see are accurate, not approximations.
  • Private by default: Everything runs in your browser. Your financial data never leaves your device — no accounts, no tracking, no data collection.
  • Transparent methodology: Every calculator page explains the formulas and assumptions used. No black boxes.

Who Built This

FireChart was built by Adam Thorne, a software engineer with a finance degree and a long-standing obsession with the FIRE movement. I built the tools I wanted to exist — precise, fast, and free of the generic advice that clutters most personal finance sites. FireChart is a Thornewood Studio project.

A Note on Financial Advice

These tools are for planning and education. They're a starting point, not a finish line. Every person's financial situation has nuances that no calculator can capture — state taxes, healthcare costs, family circumstances, and market conditions all matter.

For major financial decisions, we recommend working with a fee-only fiduciary financial planner who can look at your complete picture. Use these calculators to ask better questions and arrive at those conversations more informed.
